The HVACR industry is making the transition to more environmentally friendly (lower GWP) refrigerants. With this transition, HFCs are being
phased down and there has been a growing acceptance of the use of A2L refrigerants due to their lower flammability and toxicity.
Just like A1 refrigerants, some A2L refrigerants are blends and some are pure. Here are a few A2L refrigerants and what HFCs refrigerants they replace. Please refer to flammable refrigerant safety guides, regional codes and legislation for more information about handling these refrigerants.
