Fast and accurate

On the SM480V’s large, easy-to-read screen, you’ll be able to see air temps, pipe temps, pressure, saturation, superheat/subcooling, refrigerant weight, ODDB and IDWB. From one location, quickly assess AC/R system performance efficiently. Also, it helps you perform faster evacuations with a dedicated, large 3/8″ port and built-in micron gauge. Since the SM480V easily talks to many of our tools, you’ll see real-time superheat and air temperatures with the onboard ODDB and wireless wet bulb probe (JL3RH).

  • Why do my microns jump up when I turn off my vacuum pump?

    • The moisture inside the system is still boiling off and is no longer being taken out or compensated for by the vacuum pump
      There could be oil that is holding moisture inside either the hose leading to the manifold or inside the block of the manifold

  • Why are my microns inaccurate?

    • Microns being inaccurate is a sign of oil holding moisture either inside the block of the manifold, In the hoses or the oil in your vacuum pump needs to be changed.
      Clean sensor periodically with rubbing alcohol

  • Why do my microns jump up when I close my h/s & l/s?

    • You have isolated the micron gauge from the system, you are now only reading what is inside your manifold and hose to vacuum pump

  • How do I manually input my idwb and oddb?

    • Push target superheat on manifold. Select IDWB or ODDB using the up and down arrows. Hold enter until digit flashes, use up and down arrow to select number, push enter to go to next digit.

  • How do I update my manifold?

  • Why does my superheat/subcooling read -o/l?

    • You may have a negative degree of superheat or subcooling
      Subcooling is not working-
      1)Plug in thermocouple into LLT port and change refrigerant to R113 to check to see if the manifold calculates subcooling.
      Superheat is not working-
      1)Plug in thermocouple into LLT port and change refrigerant to R407F to check to see if the manifold calculates superheat.

  • How do I clean my manifold?

    • Cleaning the Micron Sensor Over time, the vacuum sensor of the SMAN may become contaminated with dirt, oil, and other contaminants from pulling vacuums.

      1. Never use an object such as a cotton swab to clean the sensor, you may cause damage to the sensor.
      2. Open all valves and cap all the ports except for the VAC port.
      3. Drop enough Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol into the VAC port using an eye dropper or funnel so that it can flush out contaminants.
      4. Cap VAC port and gently shake your SMAN460 upside down to clean sensor.
      5. Turn right side up. Open a port to pour out the rubbing alcohol and open all ports to allow sensors to dry out. Drying usually takes about an hour.
  • How do I calibrate my temp?

    • Using an Ice bath approximately 70% ice 30% water, place the pipe clamp in the ice water and stir for approx. 15-20 seconds. Below the SLT and LLT port there is a black screw that can be turned clockwise to bring the temp up and counterclockwise to bring the temp down.

  • Why won’t my manifold sync to JL2 anymore?

    • The SM480V no longer needs the JL2 transmitter.  All wireless signals to and from the SM480V connect directly.

  • Why does my target superheat read hold?

    • Your manifold does not have a wireless device synced transmitting your wetbulb temp.

  • Why are there weird letters in the TSH box?

    • The weird looking numbers stand for “no signal” (NSG)

  • How long is the warranty?

    • All of our products have a 1 year warranty from date of purchase.

  • Why does my manifold shock me?

    • When charging a system, recovering or discharging your hoses, ESD (electrostatic discharge) is created and can give out enough electricity to shock you. Proper grounding will avoid this issue

  • How to perform advance pressure calibration?

    • – Advanced Calibration

        1. Plug in thermocouple into SLT port.
        2. Calibrate Thermocouple to Ice water 32F.
        3. Tape thermocouple to side of refrigerant tank that has been sitting at a constant temperature for 24-48 hours.
        4. Put a brass cap on SLT and another one on LLT and open up both valves.
        5. Hook up refrigerant tank to manifold and open the tank. (Ensure that the Vac valve is closed on manifold before opening refrigerant tank. 4 port manifold only.)
        6. Open refrigerant tank
        7. Select the type of refrigerant being used for this on the manifold.
        8. Open up the Ref port on manifold (4 port manifold only)
        9. Both high and low pressures should read the same.
        10. Press “Test Cal” button.

      Both pressure sensors should read “GOOD”
