Analog Gauge Set Operations Manual - V15 Analog Gauge Set Operations Manual - V15

  • What spare parts are available for the analog gauge sets?

    • RGS22FH – Replacement Analog Gauge, High Side, Common + A2L, Fahrenheit
RGS22FL – Replacement Analog Gauge, Low Side, Common + A2L, Fahrenheit
RGS34FH – Replacement Analog Gauge, High Side, Refrigeration, Fahrenheit
RGS34FL – Replacement Analog Gauge, Low Side, Refrigeration, Fahrenheit
      RGSK6 – Analog Gauge Set – 3-port replacement valves
      RGSK8 – Analog Gauge Set – 4-port replacement valves
RGSH7 – Analog Gauge Set replacement hose holders

  • What is included in the 4-port replacement valves kit (RGSK8)?

    • The RGSK8 includes: 4 sets of complete plunger valve assemblies including: hex nut, shaft, piston with gasket, o-rings, knob, knob screws and knob labels– enough to fully configure either the GS422F or GS434F.

  • What is included in the replacement hose holders kit (RGSH7)?

    • The RGSH7 includes: (4) ¼” hose seat fittings, (2) 5/16” hose seat fittings, and (1) 3/8” hose seat fitting.

  • Should I apply any lubrication to the manifold valves when servicing or rebuilding my Fieldpiece analog gauge set?

    • When installing the RGSK6 or RGSK8 valve and knob kit for your Fieldpiece analog gauge set, it is recommended to apply a thin layer of perfluoropolyether (PFPE) lubricant, such as HP-870, to the threads of the valve and the slot interface between the valve piston head and the threaded shaft. This will help to ensure a longer usable life of your valves and smooth, even operation.

  • How do I clean my analog gauge set?

    • Over time, the manifold block may become contaminated with dirt, oil, and other contaminants.  If you are frequently flowing refrigerant through the manifold, we recommend that users should flush or clean their manifold every 2 to 4 weeks to avoid contaminants from building up within the manifold.

      1. Open all valves and cap all the ports except for the VAC port on a 4-port manifold or the center port on a 3-port manifold. Turn the manifold over such that the manifold ports (not hose holders) are facing up.
      2. Drop enough Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol (minimum 70% alcohol content) into the VAC/center port using an eye dropper or funnel so that it can flush out contaminants. (Roughly 7mL). Using any other cleaning agents could potentially damage internal components.
      3. Cap off the VAC/center port and gently shake your manifold while upside down to clean. (Approximately 30 to 60 seconds.)
      4. Turn right side up. Uncap one of the ports and pour out the rubbing alcohol. Uncap and open all ports to allow sensors to dry out. Drying usually takes about an hour.
  • How do I verify the accuracy of my analog gauge set?

    • Reset the needle to zero using the adjustment screw.

Using a calibrated digital pressure gauge as a reference, pressurize to one or two test points to compare readings and verify the analog gauges are within accuracy specifications.

  • What type of gauges are used on the manifold?

    • The gauges use a Bourdon tube with a dry mechanical anti-oscillation mechanism, assuring high accuracy and stable readings.

  • How do I use the pressure marker?

    • The pressure marker lets you visually track any pressure change without guessing the starting point. Align the pressure marker to the gauge needle to mark the starting pressure of a pressure test. After your pressure test is complete, you can quickly see if the needle has moved, indicating a change of pressure. Remember to account for any temperature changes that would affect the pressure during the test.

  • How do I identify the 1/4" vs. the 5/16” fittings? Why is there a color difference?

    • Both fittings have the same base brass material for durability.  The 5/16” fittings have a silver zinc plating while the yellow brass is the 1/4″ fitting. In order to quickly identify the two sizes, the 5/16″ fitting was plated.

  • What refrigerants are the Fieldpiece analog gauges compatible with?

    • Fieldpiece gauges are compatible with commonly used A1, A2L and A3 refrigerants. To easily determine saturation temperature for the most common refrigerants, each gauge includes four temperature rings:

      GS322F and GS422F  – R22/R32/R454B/R410A
      GS334F and GS434F  – R134a/R404A/R407C/R448A
  • What is the warranty for my analog gauge set?

    • All Fieldpiece products have a 1-year limited warranty from date of purchase.
