BREA, Calif., Sept.
1, 2005-- -- Fieldpiece Instruments, supplier of modular, professional-grade
instruments for field service, announces the immediate availability
of four new IR thermometers that are excellent value for the cost, all
under $100. The new products are economical, standalone thermometers
for quick, accurate temperature readings of registers and ambient temperatures,
both indoor and outside. The two pocket thermometers are accurate to
+/-1.8°F (SIP2) and +/- 1.5°F (SIL2).
“Field service technicians need to receive an accurate temperature
reading, but they don’t want to pay a lot of money for a thermometer.
That’s why we offer this new line of thermometers for under $100.
They are more convenient and some are as accurate as a rod-type thermometer,”
said Rey Harju of Fieldpiece Instruments.
· The SIG1 Gun Style IR Thermometer is the most popular style
of IR thermometer and is priced at a very competitive $79 trade price
and includes a backlight. Just aim the thermometer at the target and
pull the “trigger” to display the surface temperature. The
cone of view is 10:1. The laser will identify the target to read the
temperature. This can be used for measuring the temperature of registers
and grills as well as ambient temperatures. Accuracy is +/-4°F.
· The SIR2 Pocket Infrared (IR) Thermometer ($49.00 trade price)
performs similarly to the gun style, but you can put it in your pocket.
At $49 it sells for about half what most guns sell for. It has a 6:1
cone of view and a laser. With the SIR2, the technician can take ambient
air temperatures by “shooting” any representative surface
immediately after pulling it from his pocket. There’s no need
to wait for stabilization. The viewing ratio is 6:1, which means that
you can view a 6” register from a foot and a half away. You can
also measure the temperature of a 4-foot section of wall from 12 feet
away. Accuracy is +/-4°F.
· The SIP2 ($24.95 trade price) is a handy and accurate Shirt
Pocket Thermometer. The SIP2 uses a sensor that is more accurate than
most. Accuracy is +/- 1.8°F. When used to measure ambient air temperature,
the 1:1 cone of view enables the technician to easily get an average
temperature of a large area. With narrower cones of view, a “hot
spot” or “cold spot” can significantly affect the
readings. For registers and grills, you need to get close.
· The SIL2 ($39.95 trade price) is a sleek pen-type IR thermometer
with an LED flashlight. It is convenient and useful to carry in your
pocket. This is helpful when trying to read part numbers in the dark.
Accuracy is +/- 1.5°F. It has the same sensor type as the SIP2 and
the same advantages.
