Measure RPM
Without Contact with
Fieldpiece's
New Optical Laser Tachometer
BREA,
Calif., April 2004-- -- Now field technicians can measure RPM from up to 4
feet away from a rotating fan or shaft with the Fieldpiece SRPM1 Optical Laser
Tachometer. The SRPM1, recently introduced by Fieldpiece Instruments is a
stand-alone, battery-operated device that senses the passage of reflective
markings on a rotating fan or shaft in order to determine the target's rotational
rate.
When the laser is pointed at the included reflector strip, the three-digit
LCD display indicates the RPM. RPM is measured when the laser beam is interrupted
by the revolution of the target. The laser beam stays narrow, even over long
distances.
"Sometimes it is difficult to get close to the rotating fan or shaft
to take the RPM measurement," said Rey Harju of Fieldpiece. "The
SRPM1 makes it easy to measure and the tech can get the RPM or a running total
count on the unit."
The low $169 cost includes the unit and two reflective strips. A soft-sided
case, model ANC2, is available for $5.95. Fieldpiece products are sold exclusively
through authorized Fieldpiece distributors. For the Fieldpiece distributor
