Calif., February 7, 2005-- -- Fieldpiece Instruments, supplier of modular,
professional-grade instruments for field service, announces the immediate
availability of two new pocket thermometers, the SIR2 Pocket Infrared (IR)
Thermometer with laser, and the SPK1 Pocket-knife Style Thermometer. The two
new products are designed for quick temperature readings of registers and
ambient temperatures, both indoor and outside.
The SIR2 Pocket Infrared
(IR) Thermometer utilizes a laser to identify the target. With the SIR2, the
technician can take ambient air temperatures by “shooting” any
representative surface immediately after pulling it from his pocket. There’s
no need to wait for stabilization. The viewing ratio is 3:1, which means that
you can “shoot” a 6” register from a foot and a half away.
You can also measure the temperature of a 4-foot section of wall from 12 feet
away.
The SPK1 thermometer is like the common rod-type thermistor thermometer except
that it folds in half. The probe folds into the body for storage and protection,
making it much easier to carry than a non-folding thermometer. Detents allow
the technician to open the probe part way so he can hang it from a vent or
thermostat for safer hands-free measurement. The detents hold the rod at any
angle. Because the rod folds away like a pocket-knife, there is no cover or
sleeve to lose.
“These two pocket thermometers, even though they use different technologies,
can make the technician’s job a little easier and faster,” said
Rey Harju of Fieldpiece Instruments. Both thermometers fit nicely in a pocket,
display temperature at 0.1°F resolution, both have easy to read displays,
both have a MIN/MAX and HOLD mode, have a Hold button to freeze the display,
both have auto off, both can display °F or °C. The temperature ranges
are -27°F to 482°F (SIR2) and -58°F to 392°F (SPK1). Accuracies
from 0°F to180°F are +/- 3.6 °F (SIR2) and +/-1.8°F (SPK1).
