Fieldpiece Instruments Introduces the HVAC Guide™
Field Guided Probe Tester

BREA, Calif., November 9, 2007-- Fieldpiece Instruments, manufacturer of professional-grade instruments for HVAC/R field service, introduces the HVAC Guide™ guided probe tester, the HVAC industry’s first easy-to-use, hand-held instrument that leads field technicians step-by-step through the most common HVAC tests, including Target Evaporator Exit Temp, Superheat, Subcooling, and Combustion Analysis. The HVAC Guide™ tester makes the service jobs easier, faster, better, and more complete.

The technician selects a test on the dial and simply fills out the INPUT FORM and then reads the diagnosis from the OUTPUT FORM. Data can be entered automatically using Fieldpiece’s accessory heads, or manually from any other instrument, such as pressure gauges. No charts, tables, or calculations are needed.

“This is the most exciting product I have ever introduced,” says Rey Harju, President of Fieldpiece. “It makes the HVAC tech’s job easier, faster, better. It makes every HVAC tech a super tech.”

The HVAC Guide™ tester stores up to 200 tests that can be downloaded to a PC for easy customer tracking and data organization. Each set of test data contains a customer ID and a time stamp. Stored tests can be sent to the office for easy billing or for supervisors to check their technicians’ work. Work orders can be printed out for better customer service.

Upgrades will be available as additional tests and practices are developed and can be downloaded from our website. Visit www.fieldpiece.com to keep up with the latest technology in the HVAC industry.

Some common service issues, including the following, are addressed by the HVAC Guide™ tester:

• Improper refrigerant charge causes call-backs. It can cause compressor noise, shorten compressor life, and lower capacity. The Superheat and Subcooling tests lead the technician step-by-step, to determine if refrigerant must be added or recovered.

• Improper airflow causes customer complaints about it being too hot or too cold. Once you’ve checked the duct system for restrictions and leaks, adjust the airflow with the Target Evaporator Exit Temperature procedure that’s built into the HVAC Guide™ tester.

• An improperly adjusted furnace or water heater can cause customer complaints about it being too hot or too cold. Use the Combustion Analysis test built into the HVAC Guide™ tester to determine the right air/fuel mixture by analyzing the combustion products and then make adjustments to make sure the equipment works as it should.

The HVAC Guide™ tester is available immediately for $299 trade price and can be purchased from a Fieldpiece distributor near you. Dual temperature head, dry bulb thermocouple, wet bulb thermocouple, USB cable, PC software and a padded nylon case are included with the HVAC Guide™ tester.
