Calif., August 26, 2003-- Fieldpiece
introduces a new Fieldpack that contains the company’s DL2 Data Logger
and the accessory test heads most needed by HVAC/R technicians to gather the
complete story of a system. Also included is an electronic handle that converts
any one of the heads into a standalone test instrument. The data logger works
with each accessory head to store up to 20,000 readings along with real time
data. All of the instruments are contained in a briefcase-sized case.
“This Fieldpack gives the technician the capability to log most parameters needed by a service technician to see into the heart of a system,” said Rey Harju, President of Fieldpiece. “It also enables him to electronically download the test data to his PC for later analysis or for record keeping. To do this with other instruments you would need a large dolly just to get them from the truck to the job site.”
Programming and data acquisition are simple and fast. The technician simply rotates the dial to select the task he wants to perform. The labels on the dial are very easy to read and understand. Each time the dial position is changed, a new data set starts. A technician can add a reading to the data set anytime by pressing "RECORD.” Both that reading and real time are recorded.
The DL2 Data Logger stores 20,000 data points along with real time, not elapsed time. The technician can change the total duration of the test from one second to 999 days, and the time between each reading from one second to 999 hours. Each series of readings can be “tagged” with a label for easy identification later. Multiple data sets are easily recorded. It comes with software and a PC link cable so that data may be downloaded for future study and analysis. The best display resolution is 0.01. Maximum reading is 1999.9.
The snap-on accessory test heads that attach to the data logger and the electronic handle give the technician the ability to accurately measure air temperature, relative humidity, wet bulb, dew point, carbon monoxide, air velocity, dual temperature, AC current to 300 AAC, vacuum, gas pressure, static pressure, volts, and microamps for flame rectifier diode circuits. It also includes a premium pipe clamp thermocouple for taking suction line temperatures. The thermocouple has a “wrap-tab” plug that makes it easy to keep the thermocouple wire out of the way. The kit also contains a pair of test leads and alligator clips to safely connect test leads to test points.
For hard-to-reach measurements, the technician can “remote” an accessory head by removing the probe tips from the leads and connecting to the head.
