HVAC Guide™ guided probe tester software for Windows Vista®

This is the operating software required on your PC to upload test information, customer data, etc. using the Microsoft® Windows Vista® OS.

Instructions

  1. Click the “Software for Windows Vista®” button.
  2. Select “Save to Disk”. Select a folder in which you want to save the file and click “OK”. (Mozilla Firefox users – the file will automatically be downloaded to your desktop.)
  3. Right click on the zipped folder labeled “HVAC_Guide_PC_Software_V2.zip” and select "Extract All". This will default to save the folder onto your desktop or to a destination of your choice.
  4. Open the unzipped folder labeled “HVAC Guide PC Software V2.00”.
  5. Open the folder labeled “HVAC_Guide_Software_VISTA”
  6. Click on “setup.exe”
  7. This will launch the installation program. Follow the onscreen instructions to  proceed.

HVAC Guide™ guided probe tester software for Windows XP®

HVAC Guide™ firmware update for Windows Vista

This is a firmware update for the software inside the HVAC Guide™ guided probe tester. From time to time we update calculations based on the latest technology (like new refrigerants, P-T charts, etc.) in HVAC/R. Firmware updates the instrument itself.

  1. Click the “Firmware Update for Windows Vista®” button.
  2. Plug in the IR end (three pronged connector) of the USB cable into the HVAC Guide™ tester.  Plug the USB end into your PC.
  3. With your HVAC Guide™ tester in the off position press and hold the INPUT and OUTPUT buttons and turn the dial to “MEM”.  Update will be displayed on the HVAC Guide™ screen.
  4. When Prompted, save the zipped folder labeled "HG1updata_V1.10_VISTA.zip" to a folder of your choice.
  5. Find the folder where you saved the zip file, right click on the file and click "yes" if you get a security warning.
  6. Save the extracted folder to a location of your choice on your PC.
  7. Open the newly created unzipped folder "HG1updata_V1.10_VISTA"
  8. Open the next folder "HG1updata_V1.10_VISTA"
  9. Click on the “Arrow” icon labeled “HVAC Firmware Update.exe”
  10. Click on COM Auto.  Box underneath COM will turn green and say “Online”.  Once it says Online click update.  The update process will begin and usually takes a few minutes.  Once the status says “complete” your HVAC Guide™ tester is updated.

AOX2 Combustion Efficiency Calculation Worksheet

This Excel worksheet can be used for calculating combustion efficiency using the indirect method.

The sheets corresponding to gas and oil are labeled on the tabs. The LHV and HHV is in regards to the heating value. If you have liquid water in the combustion products (condensing furnace) then use the HHV sheets if no liquid water is present then use the LHV sheets.

So for example if you were doing a high efficiency (condensing) gas furnace, use the sheet called "Nat. Gas HHV".

It requires that you input the %O2, stack temp, ambient temp and CO ppm in the highlighted yellow boxes in the upper left.
